Fry’s is looking seriously post-collapse these days. Entires aisles bare of merchandise. Display models broken or missing parts. Definitely wasted the trip.

Second attempt at getting Known up and running on my docker cluster. Looks like the only way to make it work is to build my own containers, which I'm not in the mood to fight with right now.

At this point, would honestly rather write my own. In Rails.

Weird how most "crimes against humanity" are crimes with a finite number of victims, but crimes like fossil fuel profiteering or the destruction of the rainforest, where humanity itself is the victim, aren't actually crimes at all

Just received this excellent clothing size guide from a company who understand what it means to buy online without being able to try ...

🌶️ : Im going to stop buying into the industry narrative about ad blockers. They are not ad blockers, they are content blockers. The content I am choosing to control happens to come from advertising networks that have proven to be vectors for malware infections and misbehaviour for years. I'm not blocking ads, I'm not stealing from you, I'm protecting my systems just like I would with an anti-virus program.

The rpi compute module looks a lot like a naked pentium 2

Does there exist a decent self-hosted personal social media aggregator? I'm looking for something that will collect anything I post anywhere and collect it all in one place. Been searching, and only finding things that are paid and/or are crap.

I've burned a day and a half trying to figure out why acts_as_tenant was causing specs to fail randomly. Turned out it uses request_store internally, and THAT doesn't get cleared between specs, because it's implemented as middleware. Whee.

Back to the code mines. Except I'm not mining code; I'm wrangling miners, suggesting which shafts are more likely to produce good code, filling canary cages, & yelling at the mine owners about how many dead canaries they've been ignoring.

Once again pondered porting my Hugo site to something else. Browsed Jekyll, Middleman, Statocles, Gatsby, Lektor, Luapress, Zola, and finally Wordpress before I made myself lay down and put a cold towel on my head.

Set up boinc on several idle or semi-idle machines last week, joined three different projects because why not. Now wondering if there’s a tool to let me see my status across both projects and machines at the same time.

WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK STRESS STRESS STRESS WORK WORK WORK WORK STRESS STRESS WORK WORK STRESS WORK WORK WORK WORK AND SUDDENLY BOADICEA BY ENYA STARTS PLAYING ON @ThistleRadio AND THEN I'M ALL:

OH:
> dude, *i'm* a landlord. if i just gave away my empty properties, where would i get my money?
< maybe you should get a real job, mooch.

Just learned the French word "infaux", meaning "fake news", and I think that is absolute genius.

Speaker installed. Still no POST beeps. So, yeah. Awesome.

[wanders off to read a book instead]

I would not have expected to be hearing Tove Lo’s Talking Body at my dentist’s office.

Oh, right. ACA made OOPM include prescriptions, so it'll only be $4000/y. But I'll have to pay all $4000 the first time I refill my insulin.

Going over benefits paperwork for the contracting agency, and their Regence plan has a _coinsurance_ on prescriptions. They ain't paying me enough to afford $40k/y just to stay alive, so... this may get unpleasant.

Am I the only one thinking Autobot City should have had a somewhat more _automatic_ transform process?

File this under "junk I don't need and won't get but nonetheless am amused by"
