UPS says delivery today, but also says "being processed for delivery". So it's not on a truck yet, which has always meant "won't be delivered today" in the past. Guess we'll see.

Oh ho! Now they say Out For Delivery. [excited blob emoji]

It's here! 9 hours before deadline!

I gotta say, Amazon's frustration-free-packaging has nothing on Apple's.

I've got a pair of HP Envy 4k monitors I was going to use. One was Eltanin's second display, the other was sitting idle.

Looks like the power supply for the spare is probably somewhere in storage. ::P

Oh well, I can live with a single monitor for the moment.

Just encourages me to buy four of apple's Pro monitors later when I've got too much money again.

Data is finally transferring. I haven't decided for sure if it's inheriting the name.. probably should, since it's not a completely new install, what with all the crap I'm copying over...

I've been leaning towards assigning names for _purpose_ more than _device_. Like, my iphone has been named Mangala for several iterations, and my android is/was Corg, and my Pinephone is Kasei... But doing this with Real Computers(tm) would be a new thing.

Historically, a name can move either with hardware (hard drive died, I'm reinstalling, but it's still the same computer) or OS install (moving/copying hard drive to a new computer). So, calling the studio Eltanin would qualify under the second class.

... sorta. I mean, Intel mac to M1 mac, all I'm really copying are settings and user files and apps. So... does it qualify? I'm on the fence.

Part of the problem is that I'm running out of stars with 1) real names 2) that I can pronounce 3) that I can remember how to spell 4) that I like the name of.

If I don't start re-using things soon, I'm going to run out.

So, for example, I'm pondering maybe calling this Arcturus, which was the name of my giant 2006 Mac Pro, partly because I'm planning to do the same sort of over-indulgent multi-monitor setup with this that I did with that.
